7 Ways you can make money recycling things

We all know that we should be recycling things more. It is one of the best ways that we can help reduce the problems there are with increasing levels of waste at landfills and do our bit for the environment. But while you might want to look at recycling into the correct bins when you are putting out your household waste, are there any other ways you can recycle effectively? You could make some extra cash by recycling in a different way. Here are some of the things that you could try.

Old textiles that have passed their best

One of the first things you could use is old textiles you might have. Think of your bedding and towels that have seen better days. Take them down to your local H&M store and hand them over. In return, you will get a £5 voucher that you can use on any spend over £25. This is a great way to reduce the costs of things you are buying, but also recycle those old items that were likely taking up space in your home. These will be recycled effectively and used for more purposeful things in the future.

Used printer ink cartridges

There are a few websites online that will mean you can earn some extra money for recycling your printer ink cartridges. You can easily dispose of them at supermarkets and waste disposal sites for free, but sending them off could give you some extra cash. Collect them if you can and then send them off.

Electricals and devices

Would you believe that your old electricals and devices could be recycled for some extra cash? Many of us will have old items in our homes that we could earn some extra cash from and they can then be disposed of correctly. One common thing that we all might have is old mobile phones. There are websites online that could give you a guaranteed offer for your old devices and then they get recycled correctly. Other things you could do this with would be iPads, tablets, etc.

Weigh your old clothes that are no good for donation

One of the easiest ways to make some money from items in your home is to recycle your old clothes. Take some time to go through your wardrobes. Have a pile for donation to charity, but also consider items that are not possible to donate, such as items with holes or damage within them. Collect them up and weigh them in. They can still be recycled effectively and put to good use and you can make some extra money from them.

Scrap metal

An obvious way to make some extra money is to use scrap metal and cash it in. Aluminium and other metals are always in demand and they can be easily recycled for cash at many different points. A quick search online will highlight a local place for you to do it. However, it doesn’t stop there. You may have some scrap jewellery in your homes such as broken bracelets, chains, necklaces, and even rings. Cash them in for some money. Gold is in demand right now so you may as well have the cash for a broken item rather than letting it gather dust.

Recycle your plastic bottles differently

While many of us will be looking to reduce our plastic waste, you might have a lot of bottles that you collect daily. So instead of putting them in your bottle bin, why not make some money from them? Shops like Iceland, Tesco, and Sainsbury do something called a rever vending machine. They will take the bottles and give you credit to spend in the store. The amount varies depending on where you go but a quick look online will highlight what store local to you is doing it. This could be a nice way to knock a little money off your food shop.

Sell wine corks

Finally, many of us will enjoy a bottle of wine every now and again, and there is an excellent way to earn some extra money from the wine corks by selling them online. There is a big demand for wine corks for the wedding industry as many couples like to decorate their tables with wine corks for place settings and creative displays. Other artists and craters might like to use them in different designs for art that they might sell on. Collect them up and then sell them online, you might be surprised what they might fetch.

Hopefully, these suggestions will help you to make some extra cash by recycling things in a different way.
